Services available:

Denali Sunrise Publications is both a publisher and a publishing services company. Our goal is to promote quality publication of rural Alaskan writers, whether we act as the publisher or not. We can help with editing, designing, laying out your book, or consulting about various aspects of the publishing process.

If you are considering self-publishing and you want your book to be distributed widely in bookstores and libraries beyond Alaska, the Independent Book Publishers Association is a great resource. Use the IBPA checklist as a guide to ensure that you produce a professional quality book. If you are considering getting assistance with your publication, understand the difference between vanity publishing, self-publishing, hybrid publishing, and traditional publishing. The IBPA also recently put out a checklist of standards for hybrid publishers to protect authors and guide them in researching publication options.

If you are from rural Alaska and have a book that pertains to rural Alaska that you believe is ready to publish, or have an article you would like to post as a guest blog, please contact us to discuss options. When you contact us, please provide a very brief summary of what the material is and your own background in Alaska.

Denali Sunrise Publications (Lisa Alexia) will be presenting as part of a panel titled “Alaskan Publishing Options for Alaskan Authors with editors Vered Mares, Evan Swensen, Flip Todd, and Lisa Alexia.” This is taking place at the 2018 Annual Conference of the Alaska Writers Guild at the BP Energy Center on Saturday, September 22nd, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Additionally of interest to rural Alaskans at the same conference, also on Saturday September 22nd: Editor and writer Tricia Brown will moderate the panel “Alaska Native Voices in Publishing” from 12:10-1:00 p.m., featuring Barbara and Ethan Jacko Atwater, and Loretta Outwater Cox.
