Whale hunt aluminum boat Chukotka Shapran photo

Whale hunting remains part of traditional life across the circumpolar North. Traditional use of skin boats in some places has transitioned to aluminum boats, or both are used under different circumstances. Changing climate plays a role in changing strategies for the harvest.
